====== Races of Lockenport ====== This is a short guide to the melting pot of creatures that live, or pass through [[lockenport|Lockenport]]. ===== Drow ===== {{ http://www.kismetrose.com/dnd/images/drow1600.jpg?300}} The drow are a race of sinister elves who dwell deep within the subterranean region known as the Underdark. Most drow worship the Spider Queen goddess Lolth. They are organised into houses ruled by powerful matriarchs. The dark elves are known to take and trade slaves, so any reports of drow scouts near remote settlements is treated as bad news. Solitary drow are rarely encountered on the surface world. Those loner examples wandering the lands are usually exiles, or abandoned children who have grown up on the surface. (The latter are usually male drow, relinquished to the sunlit world by mothers as an alternative to sacrificing their infant sons to Lolth.) The drow [[rodakan|Rodakan]] grew up in an orphanage in the lands to the North of Lockenport. He ended up in Lockenport as part of a long quest to discover his background and understand the memories of a troubled childhood that plague him. Scattered around the continent to the north of Lockenport are isolated mountain settlements where dwarves are the dominant inhabitants, but in most places they are in a minority. Dwarves tend to be skilled artisans and reliable mercenaries, so they are usually welcome residents. In Lockenport City, the [[lockenport_bank|bank]] (or more correctly the "Loans, Securities and Financial Services Guild") is operated by a dwarven clan, known for their incorruptibility. Legend has it that dwarves originated on the landmass which lies some weeks by boat to the east of Lockenport. There, the ancient dwarven clans and the mighty minotaur kingdoms have clashed for centuries. It is believed the dwarves of those distant lands were responsible for the creation of the first warforged, as an instrument in their war. The gnome [[leetor|Leetor the Maker]] spent some time as a child growing up amongst a fierce tribe of dwarves. During this time, he joined dwarven guarding parties patrolling the mountains to dispatch raiding monsters. [[sunny|Sunny Rockcleaver]] is a dwarf from the northern town of Hammerfast. She is a member of the [[kots|Knights of the Serpent]], who are currently adventuring in the Nentir Vale. ===== Eladrin ===== The eladrin are creatures of magic with strong ties to nature. They live in cities in the twilight realm of the Feywild. The cities of the eladrin straddled the boundary between the Feywild and this world, and sometimes make appearances in the woodlands and forests. Near Lockenport, eladrin settlements are most often encountered in the [[great_forest|Great Forest]] which lies between the [[lezhar_marshlands|Lezhar Marshlands]] and the [[torgen_mountains|Torgen Mountains]] on the mainland. Although eladrin rarely settle outside of their native Feywild, they frequently travel the world, and are usually recognised as eladrin in all but the most remote places. Some eladrin server as ambassadors to the fey courts, while others explore the world in search of arcane lore, or on personal quests.
