=====Great Forest===== ====Mistyvale High City of the Elves==== Mistyvale is the centre of the High Elven Community. It has been so since before the time of men, when the Elves arrived on the Mainland from another plane. The elves settled in the Great Forest when it still covered most of the Mainland. Most of the elves that live in Mistyvale have forgotten their past, not because of lack of interest, but because of the need to forget. Elves were not always free people as they are today. They were slaves to a powerful race that was destroyed by the very daemons they worshiped. Mistyvale houses the Elven Palace and Queen Lilia resides on the throne. She has been ruler of the Elves for over a millennia, and is one of a few elves that can still remember the old ways of slavery. Mistyvale has a very complex society. Elves have all he intrigue of politics, war and a very clear social structure. Everyone in the city has specific duties to perform. The city comprises mostly of high elves. High elves are the elves most commonly encountered by other races, and the most open and friendly of their kind. They travel to other lands more than other elves. When you encounter a half-elf he/she would most likely have a high elve as a parent. They're generally dark-haired and green-eyed, with very pale complexions the color of new cream. They simply do not tan, no matter how much time they spend in the sun. High elves prefer to wear light pastels, blues and greens and violets. The high elves love building their home high up within large trees, all interconnected with bridges and ladders. The city itself has many different levels, the busiest level houses the Salderine, which is the elven Pantheon. Corellon Larethian is the leader of the elven pantheon, and the god of Magic, Music, Arts, Crafts, Poetry, and Warfare. He is the creator and preserver of the elven race, and governs those things held in the highest esteem among elves. His symbol is a silver star on a blue field. The other gods include Aerdrie Faenya, Deep Sashelas, Erven Ilesere, Fenmarel Mestarine, Hanalai Celanil, Labelas Enoreth, Rillifane Rallathil, Sehanine Moonbow and Solonor Thelandira. Like most races, elves are not naive to the need for a war council. The Elven war council is comprised of not only of elves, you will find members of other races on the council, each adding their unique approach to war. The council has been at at war with Vedroth's forces encroaching from the east for hundreds of years. The elves close connection to nature allows some of them to communicate with plants and trees. The trees form past of the elves alarm system, keeping the elves aware of what is happening in and around the forest. Mistyvale has magical defenses that has protected the fragile city from outside threats. There is a magical barrier that only allows those that have been invited through. The barrier has been protecting Mistyvale for more than a thousand years and has never failed. This protection from threats from the outside world has led to the elves concentrating more on beauty than defence when it comes to buildings, bridges and other structures. All structures are built by magical means. The "builder elves" use nature magic to manipulate growth of vines, trees and other plants. They sculpture the buildings from living flora, with some of the larger buildings taking a decade or more to complete. Within the social structure, high ranking elves have homes built high in the larger old oaks, whereas the lesser elves have their homes closer to the ground. The palace of Queen Lilia is the largest and highest building in Mistyvale, perched in the upper branches of the gigantic Tree of Eternity.
