Here's how to use the table: - Find the level you have leveled up to in the first column. - Calculate the total value of your character's current gold, magic items, rituals and alchemical formulas. - If this is less than the number in the second column, you gain enough gold coins to make up the difference. - Using your money, you can purchase additional magic items. You cannot buy anything worth more than the value in the third column, and you can only buy one item worth more than the value in the fourth column. (Usually this means that you can have only one magic item which has a higher level than you.) - Items you've picked up while adventuring can break this last rule (they can be much higher level).
